10/13 Announcements

  1. Final Forms - students we need your help.  If your family has not completed the forms yet this must be taken care of asap!

  2. Attention all students who are interested in joining the wrestling team. Coach Henry would like to thank all students who came to the informational meeting yesterday. If you did not attend the meeting, and you are interested in joining the wrestling team, please feel free to stop by room 208 and grab an informational packet from Mr. Henry.  If you happened to lose your packet or did not receive one yesterday, please pick up an informational packet as well. Open mats start Monday, October 23rd. These are optional but we hope to see you all there.

  3. RMS 7th grade defeated Talawanda - A nice win in two games: Ross 25, Talawanda 19 & Ross 25, Talawanda 12. HIGHLIGHTS: Kills -- Allyson Ashcraft 3 and Gracie McAlpin 2; Serving Aces -- Korinne Rheinfrank 11 and Sarah West 6.

  4. The 8th grade volleyball team defeated the Talawanda Braves last night in 2 games. Digs: Armstrong - 3, West - 3; Kills: Adams -3, Bennett - 3, Meehling - 3, West - 3; Aces: Adams - 7, Webster - 6

  5. Do you like to play chess or would you like to learn how to play?  Come join us on Wednesday, October 18th as we gather informally to play chess in Mrs. Emenaker's room, room 216.  You may bring your own board or use one from the class set.  You may also bring a snack and a drink for yourself.  The club will meet about every other week from 2:50-3:50.  Towards the end of the year, we may even have a chess tournament bracket!  If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Emenaker.

  6. Best of luck to our Cross Country and volleyball teams tomorrow as the compete in the SWOC championships.

  5. Color Guard practice is canceled for this evening, anyone interested in Winter Guard is encouraged to come to practice next Thursday from 7:00 - 8:30

  2. Ram Pages will meet today from 2:50-3:30. All articles should be finished and shared by our meeting time.

This council will engage in meaningful dialogue regarding students’ views of the performance and operation of the Ross Local School District.  Meetings will occur during the school day and are currently being scheduled.  If interested, applications are available in the kiosk outside the main office.  They must be returned to Mr. Saylor in the main office no later than October 10th.

  5. 5th & 6th grade band is canceled today.

  6. At this time we need all 7th and 8th grade students who are interested in joining the wrestling team for this upcoming season to come to the cafeteria for a short informational meeting with Coach Henry.

10/6 Announcements

  1. Today is the homecoming game and parade.  As a reminder, all students should go home after school and return for the evening events. The Ross show choirs will be selling fresh, delicious Krispy Kreme donuts tonight during the 4th quarter of the football game. Cost is $8 per box. This will be our last Krispy Kreme sale this year. Don't miss out! Tonight is also the annual Ross Band Booster Chili Supper.  This fundraiser runs from 5:30-7:30 and is held at the Ross Middle School cafeteria.

  2. Congratulations to Erin MacDonald on winning a 9th Place medal in the Girls Open Cross Country race yesterday at Harrison.  She ran over 1 minute faster than her PR.  The team took advantage of the great running weather by getting 19 new PR's!  The following runners got new PRs: Morgan Barnes, Mazzy Ozias, Tatum Tombragel, Kylie Dearinger, Kimberly Ketchem, Bella Vanderbilt, Erin MacDonald , Sydney Helmes, Jared Archer, Ethan Dillingham, Jackson Stewart, Bo McGraw, Colin Dillingham, Jeffery McDonald, Jesse  Gabbard, Dylan Koch, Connor Ogborn, Samuel Rousch, and Noah Schlasinger

Congrats to all the Running Rams who competed in the Championship Race Wednesday night.  In the boys 5th and 6th grade race, Aidan Yerkes was 3rd, Daniel Fogt was 2nd, and Tyler Thoman was the champion.  In the girls 5th and 6th grade race, Olivia Gillum was 3rd, Elizabeth Hopkins-Theroux was 2nd, and Myah Boze was the champion.  Way to go Running Rams!!!

Congratulations to the RMS Girls Cross Country team on their win over Harrison and Northwest.  The team had 5 girls finish in the top 10.  They were Cassidy Gillum (1st) Mazzy Ozias (3rd) Kylie Dearinger (4th) Morgan Barnes (6th) and Tatum Tombragel (9th).  The Boys team beat Northwest but lost by 3 points to Harrison.  Top 10 boy runners were Ty Anderson (4th) Jared Arch (5th) Jackson Stewart (7th) and Bo McGraw (9th).  On a very hot day when most runners were running much slower than their personal best, the team had 3 runners get new PR’s.  Sam Rousch dropped 43 seconds off his PR, Kylie Dearinger 34 seconds, and Jeffery McDonald 5 sec.

  1. School pictures are today.  All students should report at their assigned homeroom time to the gymnasium.  All students should get their picture taken. 7/8th graders - make sure your picture card is in your Chromebook so you have it when it is time to get your picture.

  2. Attention 5th and 6th graders!  There is a fall dance sponsored by the RMS student council after school this Friday from 3:00 to 4:30!  Come and enjoy dancing, open gym, snacks and a great time with friends!  The cost is only $4, hope to see you there!

  3. Hurricane Relief: Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this week students from The Change will be in the lobby each morning collecting donations to help hurricane victims in Houston and the Florida area.  The grade that collects the most money will win popcorn tickets for the entire grade.  If you have questions please see Mrs. Rice or Mrs. Jeffery.

Congratulations to the RMS Girls cross country team on winning the Hamilton Invitational.  Morgan Barnes, Mazzy Ozias, Tatum Tombragel, and Kylie Dearinger each won medals by placing in the top 10.  Kimberly Ketchem, Erin MacDonald, and Bella Vanderbilt scored for the team to secure the 1st place trophy by 5 points over Maderia.  The boys team finished 3rd led by Ty Anderson, Jared Archer, Jackson Stewart, Bo McGraw, and Ethan Dillingham

Congratulations to the 7th grade girls on finishing 4th at the Ross Invitational Cross Country Meet.  The girls were led by Cassie Gillum’s 7th place finish in a new Personal record time of 13:33.  Tatum Tombragel had a top 20 finish with a new PR.  Other 7th grade girls with new PR’s were: Kimberly Ketchem, Kylie Dearinger, and Lilly Allen.  Mazzy Ozias won a 14th place medal in the 8th grade girl’s race by running a new PR time.  8th grade runner, Sydney Helmes, got a new PR also.  Jared Archer led the 7th grade boys to a 7th place finish.  Jared, along with Colin Dillingham, Ethan Dillingham, Davis Geyer, Aidan May, and Noah Schlasinger all ran new PR times in the 7th grade race.  Ty Anderson led the 8th grade boys to a 9th place finish.  Jesse Gabbard, Adam Bundy, Bo McGraw, and Connor Ogborn all ran new PR times.

Monday, September 11th, 2017 marks the 16 year anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City, the Pentagon, and United Airlines Flight 93 which crashed in suburban Pennsylvania. Patriot Day serves as a remembrance of the lives lost on that September morning. The President directs that United States flags be flown at half-staff at individual American homes, at the White House, and on all U.S. government buildings and establishments, home and abroad from sunrise until sunset on September 11 of each year. The President also asks Americans to observe a moment of silence beginning at 8:46 AM Eastern time, the time the first plane struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center that morning.

Congratulations to the RMS Cross Country Girls for their win over Harrison and Edgewood last night.  The girls had the fastest 3 runners in the race (Cassidy Gillum, Morgan Barnes, and Mazzy Ozias) and 3 other girls in the Top Ten (Tatum Tombragel, Bella Vanderbilt, and Kimberly Ketchem).  All of those girls also got new PR’s.  Other girls with new PR’s were Kylie Dearinger, Erin MacDonald, and Abigail Smith. The Boy’s team beat Edgewood but lost to Harrison by 6 points.  Ty Anderson won the race with a time of 13 minutes 12 seconds.  Rounding out the Top Ten for the Rams were: Jared Archer, Ethan Dillingham, and Colin Dillingham.  Each of those 3 boys achieved new PR’s.  Additional boys with new PR’s were Davis Geyer, Aidan May, Dylan Koch, and Noah Schlasinger.  Great job to all of our cross country runners!

  1. If you are interested in running for student council, please meet in the cafeteria following announcements for a short meeting.  This meeting is for highly interested students ONLY.  To be on student council, you will need to be a leader, work extra hard for school events, run a campaign and make a speech in front of your team. Congratulations to the RMS Girls Cross Country Team on winning the Edgewood Invitational yesterday.  The team had five runners win medals: Cassidy Gillum 3rd, Mazzy Ozias 4th, Morgan Barnes 5th, Averie Townsley 7th, and Tatum Tombragel 8th.  All of those girls also got PR’s (Personal Records).  The following runners also got new PR’s: Kylie Dearinger, Kimberly Ketchem, Bella Vanderbilt, Erin MacDonald, Abigail Smith, and Lilly Allen.

  10. The Boys team won a 2nd place trophy led by Ty Anderson’s 6th place finish.  The following boys ran new PR’s:  Colin Dillingham, Jackson Stewart, Jared Archer, Ethan Dillingham, Bo McGraw, Davis Geyer, Aidan May, Adam Bundy, Connor Ogborn, Noah Schlasinger, and Samuel Rousch.
