  4. The RMS junior high wrestling team began its season by defeating both Colerain and Rapid Run in dominating fashion Friday night. The Rams would return to action the next day at the annual Ram Duals. The Rams would start off the day by facing off against a very improved Little Miami team, and after a back and forth contest the dual would end up being tied. Using tiebreaker criteria, it was determined that Ross was indeed the winners thanks to the fact they won 8 matches compared to little Miami’s 7! After rolling through Pleasant Run, the Rams would match up with their rivals, Edgewood. The dual would come down to the very end, but the Rams would come out on top 48-42. The next round, the Rams would be tested again by Wilmington but would squeek by winning 48-45. In the final the round, the Rams would face off against the always tough Milford Eagles. The dual was very competitive but unfortunately the Rams would end up losing to Milford. Both the Rams and Milford would end being 4 and 1, with Milford having lost to Little Miami earlier in the day. The champion would have to be determined by using a tie breaker criteria. After calculating the total number of wins it was determined that Milford had 45 wins, and RMS had 48, and Ross was indeed the Ram Dual champions. Congrats to the RMS wrestling team on a spectacular first weekend!

Attention all Washington D.C. travelers!!  Just a reminder that our MANDATORY trip meeting is on Monday, October 23rd at 7 p.m. in the RMS gym.  ALL travelers and a parent are expected to be at the meeting.  We will talk about what to pack, behavior expectations, and more.  See Mrs. Bruck in Room 103 if you have questions.  Also, if you haven't brought back your SIGNED EMA form, do that IMMEDIATELY!

  10. Red Ribbon Week is a national event that honors the life of fallen drug agent, Enrique Camarena.  “Kiki” as he was known, was killed while he tried to apprehend Mexico’s biggest marijuana and cocaine dealer in 1985.  His tragic death opened the eyes of many Americans to the dangers of drugs in the U.S.  In honor of Agent Camarena, supporters in his hometown began to wear red ribbons in his memory and to show their support for the war against drugs.  Support grew and spread across the U.S. and in 1988 President Reagan proclaimed the last full week in October as National Red Ribbon Week.  Today in homeroom, everyone will receive a red bracelet with this year’s theme of “Love Yourself, Live Drug-Free.”  Everyone is encouraged to wear their bracelets throughout the week.  Names will be drawn each day.  If you are wearing your bracelet and your name is called, you will win a prize.  The morning announcements will contain a second chance to win.  Two trivia questions will be given as well as posted in each hallway.  Anyone who submits the correct answers by 12:30 each day, in the envelope outside the office, will be eligible for one of several prizes given at each grade level.  Students can find answers online or by asking others.

  11. Student Council is sponsoring a canned food drive to support a local charity.  Please bring in canned food items for your homeroom.  The  7th/8th grade homeroom and the 5th/6th grade homeroom that collects the most canned food will win donuts!  The competition will last all this week!  So start bringing in cans asap!
